The Georgia Baptist Conference Center in Toccoa, Georgia, is part of the Georgia Baptist Convention. As such, we strive to work together to bring the gospel to those who need the love of Jesus.
The Georgia Baptist Convention Study Task Force was formed to examine how Georgia Baptists could be most effective and efficient in their efforts to share the Gospel with those in Georgia who do not have a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Context of the Mission
The ministry context in which Georgia Baptists serve is changing at an incredible pace. Over the next 10 years the population of Georgia will drastically grow in numbers, ethnicity, and urbanization. The ministry expressions of Georgia Baptists is also rapidly changing. We are now made up of churches with unique organizational approaches, worship styles, and theological tendencies.
Calling to the Mission
Georgia is not staying the same and neither can Georgia Baptists. Georgia Baptists have a divine calling to engage the lost in this state with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. By the year 2020 those in Georgia who do not have a personal relationship with Christ will number a staggering 8.1 million. The lost population of Georgia will outnumber the current population of 39 U.S. states.
Community on a Mission
As overwhelming as this number may seem, the call that God has placed on thechurches of the Georgia Baptist Convention is higher. The most effective Georgia Baptist church cannot accomplish this mission alone. The most effective Georgia Baptist association cannot accomplish this mission alone. The most effective group of state missionaries cannot accomplish this mission alone. This divine calling and mission can only be accomplished by relying upon the power of God to unify the efforts of churches, associations, and state missionaries. We need all sizes, strategies, and styles to conquer this giant.
